CNOOC's first cylindrical FPSO "Penguin" will be delivered!

The "Penguin" cylindrical FPSO built by CNOOC Qingdao site for Shell has successfully completed the ship moving operation recently, and is planned to be towed to the anchorage at the end of November, and then towed to the European site by dry towing.

Penguin FPSO adopts Sevan cylindrical hull design. Built by Fluor General Contractor, CNOOC Engineering. The project includes the construction, integration, mechanical completion and pre-commissioning of the upper module and hull.

The FPSO hull is 43.5 meters high, has a maximum diameter of 87.5 meters, and weighs about 18000 tons. The upper module has a total of 26 monomers with a total weight of about 14000 tons.

The Penguin FPSO will be deployed in the British North Sea, 241km (150 mi) north-east of Shetland, in a water depth of 165m. The FPSO has a production capacity of 45000 barrels of oil equivalent per day, a storage capacity of up to 400000 barrels, and a design service life of 20 years.

Shell, as the operator of the FPSO, and Exxon Mobil each hold a 50% stake.
